German football legend Michael Ballack has advised Chelsea star Eden Hazard not to be lured into a move to Spain.
Real Madrid is reportedly weighing up an offer for the Belgian winger but Ballack has advised that he might not have the mental capacity to compete with the egos in Madrid.
Chelsea remain confident that Hazard would agree to a new deal amid interests from other clubs. Real have held long-time interests in the player and they have revisited it with their transfer ban off the table.
Ballack himself had to say no to Madrid at the height of his career in 2002. He moved to Bayern Munich instead, so his advice might be in order. He said Hazard’s last season – when Chelsea slumped following a Premier League title win – was not as good. And that he noticed Hazard was an “emotional player” who needed off-field activities to be good for him to perform well.
“I’m pretty sure if he moved to Real Madrid, he would have to fight for that standing again and it would take time because he’s a bit of an introvert. He’s not a player who talks a lot and Real Madrid, if you see the players they have, it would be a different situation for him,”Ballack warned.
The German, who also played for Chelsea in the later stage of his career, advised Hazard to remain in Chelsea where he is already established and help them back to the top in Europe.
Ballack also delved into the Costa debate, asking Daniel Sturridge Fan that Chelsea hold on to the Spaniard. There are reports that Chelsea could move for RomeluLukaku or Alexis Sanchez. Ballack admitted that Costa could be a hothead but said it has been good so far and that there are not many strikers that can do what he does for the Chelsea set-up.
